Searching for Roy G Biv 4 - Blogger's Choice - Update #1

Welcome to the December installment of searching for Roy G Biv. This month's color is blogger's choice. I'm very curious to see what everyone chose and just as curious to find out why.

For myself, since this will be the last official Roy G Biv post, I decided to cull through the archives for my favorites.

 Cleveland 2014

When Julie and I began the search for Mr. Biv, I had no idea the effect it would have on my way of viewing my surroundings. Rather than walking with head down or focusing solely on my destination or route, I began to lift my head and to look...really look about me and to search for that little hint of color midst the ordinary. It's those surprises that have become my favorites.

Searching for Mr. Biv has become a habit when taking photos so don't be surprised to find a red or pink or violet post here every now and then. Until then, it's been an honor to share the rainbow with you.

So...blogger's choice. What color(s) did you choose? Just leave a note for Julie or myself and we'll happily link to your post. Stay tuned for updates.

---------

It was Julie's post...oh...5-ish years ago entitled Roy G Biv that included a photo of something green with the caption, "Enough said"...(or that's how I remember it)...that had me sitting at the computer, staring at her photo and wondering just who this Mr. Biv was. A mad internet search later had me hanging my head in shame at claiming to be an artist yet being totally unaware of Mr. Biv's existence. To make matters worse, I asked my husband if he was acquainted with this guy and his laughter could heard all up and down our street.

Many thanks to you Julie for humoring me and agreeing to play along. Many of her photos along the way were taken in Old Town Alexandria, VA near the Torpedo Factory Art Center which is where Julie and I met a long time ago. It has been a real treat to share this with you.

Now...care to see what gems await on Julie's blog? To head on over, click here and cruise the rainbow.

Fiona chose a quiet color for her Thursday Thoughts post to correspond to the end of the rainbow. White - quiet, dignified, the presence of all colors in a serene way.

Lisa at arzigoglare chose golden green, a color that exudes life and renewal. As always, her photos have left me in awe.

Roy G Biv - reminder

A quick reminder that tomorrow is the last Roy G Biv installment of 2015

and the color is your choice.

---------

Tomorrow's post will be the last for Julie and I. After 4 years, we need a rest from searching for the elusive Mr. Biv. We appreciate your playing along with us and have loved seeing your photos each month. In fact, we're hoping that someone else will decide to take the lead and continue searching for Roy. Who knows, after a year's rest, we may be back. Until then, I can't wait to see what treasures await tomorrow!

Searching for Roy G Biv - Pink - Update 1

Welcome to the November installment of the search for Roy G Biv. Julie and I gone through the usual rainbow alphabet and are featuring other colors to round out the year. November's color was once relegated to little girls' clothes and various candies (cotton and Bazooka bubblegum come to mind), but that no longer seems the case. These days pink can be found on city streets, in home goods stores, outside offering a place to rest, on a wall proclaiming the establishment's name and even in the schools promoting worthy messages. Enjoy!

Searching for Roy G Biv - Grey

Once again, we've reached the time for another installment of Roy G Biv. October's color is grey.

From sidewalks

to shadows,

ceramic paint,

playground equipment,

owls,

and storm clouds,

the backs of theater seats

and even a bit of rusted cotton, grey is all around us. Sometimes planned or expected, sometimes not. Grey has many emotions and is becoming a favorite...perhaps because it's also the real color of my hair.

If you've greys to share, just leave a comment for Julie or myself and we'll be happy to link to your blog post. October's Roy G Biv post date finds me traveling again so I may be slow to update.

Searching for Roy G Biv - Gold - update 2

Wow! Where did August go? Seems we posted browns only last week. The calendar, however, is telling me differently. In fact, the calendar says it's time for September's installment in the search for the ever elusive Mr Roy G Biv and that means we've struck gold (so very sorry...too little sleep, too much to do...).

Enjoy!

Julie is in Cleveland right now filming an episode for Quilting Arts TV. I'm thrilled for her and can't wait until it airs! She'll be wonderful. Julie asked that I go solo with Roy this month and I'm happy to do so. If you've gold to share, just leave a comment here with a link to your blog post.

What I didn't have the heart to tell Julie is that my family is traveling this weekend as well. We're heading to Detroit to participate in the Tour de Troit on Saturday. It's a 30 mile bicycle ride through the streets of the city and around Belle Isle. We're loading the tandems on the car, taking the girls out of school for a couple of days and heading to Michigan. I will post updates as possible so please don't despair if it takes a while.

Thanks for understanding!

Searching for Roy G Biv 4 - Brown - update 2

Welcome to the August installment of Roy G Biv. July saw the end of the formal Roy G Biv alphabet of colors. As we did last year, Julie and I have decided to extend the rainbow through the end of the year. August's color is brown. Enjoy!

Searching for Roy G Biv 4 - Violet - Update 2

Welcome to the Search for Roy G Biv! We're up to violet - or as I learned the rainbow - purple. This month's offerings are mostly from my current visit to Philadelphia and feature accents of the color as in the case of Laura Petrovich-Cheney's When I Am 64 with its one purple square.

Searching for Roy G Biv 4 - Indigo, update 1

Indigo is a mysterious, ethereal color to me. It brings to mind the sky at twilight

and the deep blue visible when flying above the clouds.

It is history with a tactile sensibility.

It is durable with great functionality,

yet great beauty as well.

Indigo is actually one of my favorite colors to create with.

Tea bags and the red boat enjoy it too.
