Marks - June 21

Saturday's mark making began with sheet of Rives BFK

that had been painted last week.

A few circles were added.

As was an X

or 2...or 3.

A bit more color was needed

so the yellow crayon got to play.

 summer marks #2, 2014

Knowing that this will become a journal, I cut the pages

and rearranged them just for fun.

This is my 493rd post. My little urchins keep asking when they get to draw a name or 2 out of the rusty can again. Seems that in 7 more posts there needs to be a give-away to celebrate. Perhaps a mark making journal or 2. What do you think?

  3. I think yes too! I love the movement in these and the contrast in shape and colour and also the way the last two come together in a new order to make something special and more than the sum of the parts ...
How big are they? Judging from the windows above the last two .. quite large.

    1. Seems the yeses are going to rule the day...especially as the nos are being silent.

I'm working on full sheets of Rives BFK - in front of the window, that is. These measure 22" x 30". Once cut down, the "pages" are 22" x 5". I'm debating halving them to 11" x 5" for a 6" x 5" journal. Be kinda nice to get one journal out of a sheet of paper. Stay tuned!

  4. ooh la la - loving these mark-making moments of immediate expression. Of influencing and changing something swiftly and instinctively. It will make a fine journal and I am sure that a journal such as that would be a wonderful give-away! The girls can start getting ready to draw...

Such a lovely phrase Fiona. And spot on as well. I've yet to learn how to really plan a piece out and have decided to embrace "winging it". Ha! The girls will be happy to hear that they can get ready to draw a name. Enjoy!

  5. nice work, jennifer. working into these pages--if that's what this being a journal means (?) would be really interesting, i'd like to see where you go with it.

    1. Hadn't thought of a journal in those terms, but it is that too. Meant a journal with pages to be marked on...or not, along the lines of the ones Pam and I made. Glad you like what's happening. Enjoy!

    1. Glad you like the pages! I'm finding that with my urchins (twin 7 yr old girls) home, a mark a day may have been optimistic...more like a mark every other day. Enjoy!
