My Saturday in Philly

With a bit of time to spare before the opening of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show yesterday, I decided to go in search of the LOVE sculpture.

I'd passed by it last year on my way to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and thought it would be fun to photograph it again at an hour when few people would be around.

Along the way, there was architecture to admire.

At one crossing, I looked right and saw this giant paint brush and decided to investigate.

And then I saw this. That's when my curiosity and camera took over. Enjoy the photos of the Grumman Greenhouse. There really were plants growing inside the cockpit. I couldn't get a good photo though.

  1. What a wonderful set of photos! It is so long since we visited Philadelphia. This makes me really want to go again. I can see much has changed.
    Love the rust!

    1. Thank you Charlton! When it comes to Philly, I've realized that I tend to be a creature of habit and tend to stick to the gallery district each visit. Venturing to the many galleries that took part in FiberPhiladelphia last year had me strolling all over town and discovering new areas. How I missed this last year...it's a mystery. And a very pleasant surprise this trip.

      Enjoy!

    1. Thank you Fiona! I'd love to talk to the gentleman who's idea this was. What...how...why...where did the idea come from to use an outdated airplane as a green house? And to do it so beautifully...aahhhh! There really were plants in the cock pit...dieing back for the season and impossible to get a decent shot of. I need a trip in the spring or summer to see the plants thriving there. And take more photos!
