Red

Marilyn Richeda, 80 Unusual Stories

I recently saw Marilyn Richeda's exhibit, Whispered Warnings at Silvermine Arts Center and totally fell in love with the simplicity and boldness of her installation of red ceramic houses. Seemed to be an excellent example of my mantras of keep it simple and focus.

  1. Love it - especially the subtle variations in the reds.

    1. You should visit Silvermine and see the other exhibits...given that you're in the neighborhood, that is.

    1. Thank you! This piece was very different from the rest of the exhibit - which features creatures that are part robot/part animal and very fantasy like. While the creatures appealed, it was Marilyn's houses that stopped me in my tracks. Oh! To have the money to buy them all.

    1. It actually stretched across 3 walls, but I couldn't get a good shot of the full installation. It was impressive, to say the least.

Hope your ennui is lifting. Mine is better, but has been replaced by a springtime cold, darn it.

      Have a great weekend!

    1. Oh! You've said so eloquently what I'd been thinking but couldn't quite put into words. Thank you!

The houses...and there really were 80 wrapped around 3 walls...were stunning in their simplicity of shape and color. All red, but varying a bit. All the same shape and size yet individual. I really did want to bring them all home with me and install them on one wall.

Alas, 80 x $125 = a bit too much. However, the exhibition is up until the 22nd and I think I may have to go back to buy one. They're just too wonderful not too, don't you think?
