WONDER - Maya Lin

By the time this post goes live, I'll be on a train headed to Washington, DC, settled snuggly in the quiet car, listening to an audiobook and either stitching or drawing marks on paper that echo the jostling of my hand via the movement of the train.

Maya Lin is speaking at the Renwick Friday night about her most exquiste Folding the Chesapeake and I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the event.

Of course, it's also a good excuse to view the whole WONDER exhibition for a second time. Stay tuned or follow along on my instagram feed to see what treasures are found in DC this time around.

    1. Hi Julie! I'm in town until mid-day tomorrow (Sunday). Am off to Baltimore today. Actually, I'd love to come sometime when you're teaching your stitching class and set in. Next time?

    2. Probably not til Fall (assuming that my shoulder is functioning...probably will have surgery this summer). I do have my Healing Cloth workshop coming up in a few weeks. I'll let you know if I schedule a stitching workshop at Artistic Artifacts...my students are asking for the next one! Have fun!

  6. Hi J - thanks for sharing these images - there is something just beautiful about the impact huge simple everyday items can have when presenting in such vast numbers. B

    1. This exhibition had great impact on me. I was struck by the simplicity of materials used and the focus of the artists. Each artist was given a room to fill and they filled them exquisitely...really using only 1 material. Oh, there was glue or screws, etc. to anchor the works, but really only 1 prominent material. Mind blowing actually.
