Make Your Mark

One of the best opportunities that came my way in 2014 was an invitation
from Jeannine Stein, editor of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine,

to write a recurring column for the 2015 issues.

In Make Your Mark, I will be sharing some of my mark making techniques and the tools used in the process.

The January/February issue of Cloth Paper Scissors is out now. I'm thrilled to be in the company of Seth Apter of The Altered Page. In The Creative Pulse, Seth will address issues that all artists deal with beginning with ways to identify your own signature style.

Stay tuned! 2015 promises to be a fascinating year.

    1. It's thrilling and terrifying. Not sure which more. Still can't believe the opportunity came my way and am terrified that what I wrote is just dribble. Actually, do you get Cloth Paper Scissors over there? Just wondering. Enjoy!

  3. How excitement J - a little squeal or two erupted! Wow - you're not just "in a magazine", you're a columnist! I can hear the urchins "our mom's a columnist, our mom's a columnist..."

Can't wait to become a regular reader - big congratulations! Isn't the arty life fascinating?!?

    1. Ha! Sorry, but no. The little urchins just know that I've a story in a magazine. Not sure "columnist" is in their vocabulary. Maybe it should be. Even that thought makes me laugh.

i've been overwhelmed with decorating fabric for over a year!. trying to keep eco or at least eco-ish, and then what will work for items that are utilitarian rather than art..... there's some ideas for you lol

    1. Many thanks Monica! I've been enjoying your utilitarian sewing of late. One day maybe I'll take on zippers again...maybe. Enjoy!

  5. Wonderful - CPS is not a publication I subscribe to usually, though it's available in the UK via a company called Rainbow Silks - but I've just ordered a copy! Very much looking forward to hearing what you have to say ... Mark making is right up my street!

    1. Thank you! I hope you like my column and the info shared. Let me know what you think please...even if you think it's complete dribble. Enjoy!

  6. Well, that's incredibly exciting news! I will see if I can find a copy here somewhere...it'd be such fun to see your column, and I'm sure this new role will start to feel as comfortable to you as blogging before long. And I can see just from the cork-rolling that it is most definitely not "dribble" - congrats!

    1. Many thanks Lisa! No dribbling with the wine cork...or the wine. It was very good, by the way. It's hitting that 500 word mark each time that turns my brain to mush when I first sit down to write the column. Most of my blog posts only have a few sentences. Such a dilemma! Ha!

      Enjoy!
