A surprising find

As I drove the little urchins to gymnastics on Tuesday, taking our usual route, something new caught my eye. It was rather large and dark. It demanded attention...which I hadn't the time to give at that point. A few days later, my camera and I ventured up the road a bit to give the surprising find a bit more attention.

    1. It is spectacular, isn't it? No doubt, many trips will be made to photograph the rust...maybe even this week as the rainy season seems to have set in. Enjoy!

    1. Most definitely nail envy, nail lust, nail covetousness, etc... And add a touch of rust to the equation and...well...need I say more? Ha!

    1. Lyle, I have no idea how this was done, but would love to know. All I can say for sure is that it was not there last week when I took the girls to gymnastics and passed by the same spot twice. I'm assuming that the bird is welded somewhere, but not that I could see. The nails on the ground look to have been artfully laid out. As tempting as it was to touch and see if those on the ground were loose, I resisted and kept my hands on the camera.

  5. J - what an amazing work - and I just love the 'nails' some are huge - are they real; and if so where can I get some of them - a mission for you and the urchins? Thanks for pausing, capturing and sharing this. Go well. B

    1. Barry, as far as I can tell the nails are real. Some are enormous. I've been looking online to find galvanized nails that big, but haven't managed to yet. Probably not using the correct wording or something. Do you think someone would have made them especially for this? I'll definitely go back to photograph the rusting and will take closer look...although I was pretty close the other day. Thankfully, it's in a medical and professional park so no one paid any attention to me. Just smiled at the crazy lady taking pictures of the sculpture. Enjoy!

A wonderful description, Valerianna. As amazing as the sculpture is, at a certain point, it was the nails on the ground and their patterns that captivated me. I'd love to know who the artist is, but haven't managed to locate any info.

    1. Got a chuckle from you comment. I wanted to tell a bit of story...build the suspense...let the viewers ponder the possibilities...then show you the sculpture.

The photos are also how I saw it. Well, except I saw the full sculpture first and then the details. Still...it's how my mind works.

    1. I'm so happy to have been able to surprise everyone. The sculpture is truly marvelous - both for its size (I'd say at least 14 feet) and the artistry involved.

  10. I like that you kept us guessing until the end. Nice photos!

You asked on my blog about a green photo. I put a green filter lens from a 1950's Argus camera on my cell phone, used Fun Tack. The photo is of a rock with a small puddle, seed fluff, plant reflections and shadows.

    1. You're very welcome!

I went back today for closer inspection
and could see things not seen on Tuesday.
Not welding marks. Molding marks perhaps.

Either way, creative construction was definitely in play.
