Such choices! Whatever it becomes, your photos show an appealing range of colors, patterning & edges... Looking forward to seeing how the project unfolds (or unrolls!)...
Barry, so far the vote is for the scroll/coil, but some esteemed book artists have weighed in with good arguements (advice really) leaning toward accordion. At the moment, I'm leaning toward scroll myself. Next week? Who knows? Enjoy!
Hi Jennifer. I've only just caught up with your development of this piece - it's wonderful and lovely to see how it has evolved. Have you seen the work of Jilly Edwards? A tapestry weaver who often makes beautiful long pieces which are then coiled (or displayed in unusual ways). Your piece reminded me of her work.http://www.jillyedwards.co.uk
As you can probably tell, I'm having a blast in the studio right now. Everything has finally come together in a rather surprising way and I am most thankful for that.
Just checked out Jilly Edwards' work (thanks for the tip!) Amazing! The long woven pieces are so intriguing. Wonder if her work is ever exhibited over here....
I'm liking the scroll!

ReplyDeleteSo...we're at scroll 2, undecided 2...well, 3 if you count me. Stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteThank you Valerianna, Christine, Eizabeth and Lisa for your thoughts!
Hi J - it looks gorgeous - I go for coil - a coil of rust, of words, of marks. Go well. B
