Hilton Head - evening stroll

We're in Hilton Head, South Carolina this week visiting family. I love coming here, especially in the off-season when the temps and humidity are on a more human friendly level...well...more tolerable for this human that is.

Thought I'd share my view of our pre-dinner stroll around the neighborhood last night. Enjoy!

Moss hangs in all the trees here

giving them an ethereal look.

As you can see from the reflection, yesterday was a sunny day with a few fluffy clouds.

Rust marks on the concrete at the dock

 left by the rusting chain.

Just too cool not to photograph.

 The drawbridge into the harbor.

Ripples from the breeze.

Crushed shells on the path.

    1. We're having a lovely time here with John's dad and step-mom. Even the weather is cooperating with springtime temps and plenty of sun.

  4. The rust marks on the concrete are my favourites, maybe we can call them 'spontaneous industrial mark making'? That shot would look beautiful in a handmade book. And wouldn't that palm tree awaken the envy of more than one architect!

Jennifer, I am working on my paper homes but more materials than paper are involved. Some stitching takes place too, among other things. Is it ok with you if I use your idea of rusting thread to use it on my work? I won't until I know how you feel about it. XX

    1. "Spontaneous industrial mark making" Love it! My urchins are fascinated by the palm trees and, I must admit, so am I. The fronds/leaves are so graceful.

Your paper homes are intriguing and I can't wait to see more of them. By all means, feel free to rust thread to use! I am not the first to do such rusting, you know. I'd be happy to share a bit of mine with you if you'd like.

    2. You would really share a bit of your rusted thread with me? I do, I do, I do like! Thanks so much, Jennifer! I will rust some thread of my own and will happily share some with you in exchange. (Just hope it will come out as beautiful as yours.)

    3. Of course I'll share my rusty threads with you! The thought that some of it might find its way into one of your paper homes is thrilling. Just email your address when you have a chance to jcqart@yahoo.com.
