Pondering the new year

It's that time when thoughts turn to the coming year and what it will hold. For me, it's time to organize the studio, unearth my worktable, mull over a few old ideas and ponder a few new ones.

 The indigos are calling

 as are the story tiles.

  My Morning Tea
for the Sketchbook Project needs a short note and to be mailed.

I'd like to experiment with rust and paper more.

Do a bit more stitching as well.

Continue to search for Roy G Biv.

And set a few challenges for myself.
More on those later.

What would you like to do in 2013?

    1. 2013 may be the year for resolving ideas and pieces that were begun in 2010 and 2011...even as far back as 2006...or earlier. Yikes! Do I procrastinate or what?

I'm honored you like the story tiles. There are 106 in all - only 88 would fit on my display board. They've been patiently biding their time...waiting for me to take up the story and add to it.

      Have a wonderful 2013!

  2. The story tiles are most intriguing! One of my goals is to get my "Story in the Making" workshop together before March (when I'm scheduled to give it). I've decided to do alaw 2013. I may kick myself for committing to it, but I just couldn't help myself! I love what people have done in past years and ideas immediately popped into my head. Of course, the Newsletter will continue and it looks like we are up for another round of the "real" Roy! But, my biggest hope is that I will be "officially" working on my book! Sounds like we are both in for a crazy creative year!!!

    1. It's funny, but every time I look at photos of the story tiles, I'm a bit amazed...at how good they look together and that I made them. They're pre-indigos, pre-rust...post-mono printing marathon at Pam's. They've been put away since late 2010. It's time to bring them into the light, don't you think?

I'd love to be able to take your Story in the Making class. Would you consider a private class...hint, hint...come visit? We could play in the studio while the urchins are at school.

Have a wonderfully creative new year!

    1. Thank you Seth! My journey from basketry artist to mark maker has taken a few twists and turns...and a few things have been put aside because I truly did not know how to continue with them. I'm hoping 2013 will be the year that all is resolved.

Wishing you a wonderfully creative and enjoyable New Year!

  4. Hi J - just back from a trip to family and getting back to catching up. This felt like a lovely wander and reminder of the year and some of that gorgeous things you have done, experimented with and re-worked. Stitching, rust, paper and stories - there's a whole world in there...enjoy yourself, and I look forward to hitching a ride with you as you go!
