In the studio - now

Did you hear it yesterday morning? A sigh followed by a tiny giggle which was quickly followed by a happy woohoo!? Around 7:20 am NYC time? Yes? That was me...about 2 minutes after the little urchins boarded the bus for their first day of kindergarten. And after they were out of sight and earshot, of course.

My day was spent organizing and clearing the studio and

beginning to unearth my work table.

Time was taken to admire the light and shadows.

I looked at the most recent tea bags

while considering how to use them

 in my art.

Now...

    1. Seems my sigh was heard far and wide. Amazing! I'm looking to finally having the time to work with my rusty fabrics. And to answering some emails...like yours. Enjoy!

  2. What a joy to have such a lovely studio and such a huge work table! I really want to see your new work. And that sigh of yours? I think it undid my hairdo :))

    1. Oh Ersi! So sorry about messing with your hairdo! I guess a bit of a butterfly effect was caused by my sigh. Who knew?

My work table is a good size - 6 ft x 4 ft - with plenty of storage area beneath [hence the fancy cover]. It's waiting for me to get back to using it as a work table rather than a repository for all and sundry. Maybe tomorrow...

  3. I could definitely hear that sigh and well remember heaving the same such sighs when my children went back to school after a couple of months at home over the summer! Those days are gone for me, but not so far gone that I don't remember that joy. And look at what you are doing already ....... love the rusty marks on tea bags. Think they are some of my favourite images of yours. x
ps. never heard back re my email about Japan. Presume you are still thinking over whether it is a possibility ....... would be interested to hear you preliminary thoughts as I want to get back to Bryan with some ideas.

    1. Susan, my apologies for not emailing about Japan. I just sent Pam the link to look at and will discuss it with her tomorrow during our regular Friday Skype session.

This past month has been spent doing very little other than looking after the little urchins...with no breaks other than when I could escape...errrr...leave them with my husband for a few hours. Nothing frazzles my brain quite like they do. I owe you, Fiona and several others emails back. Now that I'm coherent [read not frazzled] most of the day, emails will be returned in the next few days.

Glad you like the rusty tea bags. These last have been quite colorful. Comes from placing them in the 2nd book of tea and totally forgetting about them! See what I mean by frazzled...

  4. No worries or hurry in getting back to me. Thought it may be the school hols but just wanted to see if you had any interest whatsoever in a possible workshop in Japan. Glad you had the email though, thought it may have ended up in cyberspace. No rush. x

    1. It is a big step - especially as they are in separate classes now. It's funny, one is enjoying the time apart while the other misses her sister. One enjoys having a seat all to herself on the school bus while the other sits with someone. This is really going to be interesting.

  6. Ahhhh...bet it's great to refocus.
I need to get back in my studio as well after a crazy August(and not the best week).
Looking forward to seeing new rust and books of tea.

    1. It's been wonderful to be able to start refocusing. It's also great to still be able to think coherently at 3 or 6 pm. Usually by that time [3 pm to be honest, if not before] my brain was completely fried. Now...well, I am once again able to hold semi-intelligent conversations in the evening. Such a great feeling!
