My curiosity got the better of me this morning.
After soaking in red tea for 24 hours,
the now amber cotton was spread out
on my work table to be folded
and wrapped around a rusty gear.
It's now snugly rusting away.
Wonder how long before my curiosity gets the better of me again?
keep going. I'd be so impatient to see what occurs! just the difference between using coffee and tea is surprising to an amateur !
ReplyDeleteI may just have to post a mid-rust update in the morning on both the green and red teas that are rusting. Coffee? Hmmm...there's a bit left in the pot.... Thanks for the idea Lyle!
Deleteyes! it glows!
ReplyDeleteIt does! And the studio has the delightful aroma just now too. Thank you for the idea! I'll keep you updated on how it goes. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteLots of amazing results...I love the combination of green tea and rust - gives a purplish colour on my papers - interesting alchemy happening here, xoxoxo
Hi Noela! Do you know what it is about green tea that gives the purplish hue? Higher tannin content maybe? The indigo-ish hue that the green tea piece had when wet dried to a purplish-grey that is quite remarkable and so different from any of those soaked in black tea. Can't wait to see what happens with the red tea. Enjoy!
DeleteI would love to see sampler of what you've done and the results - red tea + rust = this, green tea + rust = that, coffee + rust = ?. It would be great for a visual comparison. Continue to enjoy and wonder 'what if ?'
ReplyDeleteI figure there will be a sampler post at some point. Right now I have green and red teas rusting so a sampler showing vinegar and black tea as well will be possible soon. Still need to try coffee. Wonder is it matters whether it's espresso or not? More "what ifs" to try!
