In the studio

Wednesday night and Thursday morning found me in the studio packing my rusty fabrics to ship to Pam's for our 3rd annual artist retreat.

I started to pick and choose which pieces to send, but in the end opted for just packing the whole lot...except for my favorites, that is. Those will fly out with me next Sunday.

And that is when the fun started.

After all, don't my favorites deserve a suitable carrier?

  2. Thanks! Glad you like the carrier. It is rather cool and unique if I do say so myself.

It's also a bit of a comedy in errors. I really, really wanted a cool bag to carry my favorite fabrics to Pam's in so Thursday morning while the girls were at preschool, I began. Just began. No pattern. Made it up as I went.

It was "this size should work", "if I sew it together like this it can be reversible", "ooops, that didn't work", "pockets, need pockets...I'll sew them into the side seams", etc...

I wanted an elongated bag. With the side seams exposed, the bag itself [sans straps] measures 15" wide x 21" long. It's probably 19" wide when reversed. Made of cotton duck. And yes, I am considering making more [now that I know what not to do] to sell.

I'll keep you updated. By the way, just how much cold hard cash would you part with for a reversible, one of a kind bag such as this? Just wondering...

    1. How do I do it? Hmmm...focus. In truth right now while the girls are in preschool, I have little time to devote to art. An hour each morning while the house sleeps. 2 mornings of 3 hours each when the girls are at preschool. The 3rd morning of preschool, Pam and I Skype. My husband and I give each other time on the weekends and then there's the rare Saturday night that finds me in the studio...when my brain hasn't been frazzled by the girls.

Come September, the girls start kindergarten and it's 5 FULL DAYS HERE!!!
Can you tell I'm looking forward to it? Care to guess how I'll be filling my days?
