Timelines is the visual concept of time. We follow time, yet we cannot see it. We think about time being in motion, or expanding, or fading depending on whether we are contemplating the future or the past.
Time is both a real and abstract concept. If we were asked to paint a picture of the blur of activity in our lives from birth to now, how could that idea be seen in the abstraction of our minds?
Technology allows us to store, record, and share our lives through photography.
With a finger-swipe or click on our mobile devices all of the meaningful moments in the previous year or years can be seen at once.
In Timelines, I've distilled the concept of time by using red lines to represent the movements we make in starts and stops. They flow and move and twist just as our own lives do and represent these moments.*
