Mermaid watching

My family has gathered for our annual beach week in North Carolina.

Time is spent watching mermaids who fancy themselves

hunters and gatherers of shells and precious treasures.

The local wildlife is a little shy,

colors are vibrant and

  patterns are everywhere -

even X's

and O's.

Tic tac toe anyone?

  2. The edge of the sea ... where heaven reaches down to touch the earth.

Our family has gone to the Outer Banks (Avon) for over 30 years ... there is nothing like it.

Love the shells, the crab, and most of all the surfboard art (peace, love and jaws?)

Beautifully said - and so true. We're at the opposite end of the Outer Banks in Corolla. Have seen porpoises or dolphins, lots of tiny fish in tidal pools and even a sea turtle nest on the dunes, but no shark...thankfully! Couldn't resist the shot of the decorative surf boards.
