Searching for Roy G Biv 3 - Brown - Update 3

The search for Roy G Biv has lead us to celebrate brown this month. Once again, I've culled through my archives for photos to share. Enjoy!

Want more browns? Check out Julie's, Sharmon's, Maya's and Mary Ann's offerings. And take a stroll over to Paper Ponderings to see the new book that Fiona is working on.

If you've browns to share, just leave a note for Julie or I and we'll link to your post as well. Enjoy!

More browns have been posted!

Jill of Recycled Daze has a bounty of nature's browns.
Barbara of Salt Air and Pistachios has gigantic treasures.

I am adding Velma's post at Wake Robin to the list because you simply must see the corn ladies in the fields that she drives by each day...and they are a shade of brown so they fit right in.

Lisa at arzigogolare has me craving chocolate this morning. And I can't find any!!! Must run to the store....

Charlton Stitcher collected browns in her travels.
Yarngoddess found a gorgeous brown cat.

Roy G Biv $64,000 Question -

Julie and I are considering continuing the search for Mr Biv in 2015. Round 4 would begin January 15 with red. This year we ventured outside the rainbow alphabet with pink, white, black, brown and December's blogger's choice in order to extend the fun for a full year.

However you participated in the search - by posting the month's color or by reading the posts and admiring the photography - I'd like to hear your thoughts on extending the rainbow in 2015. What non-Roy G Biv colors would you like to see featured? Turquoise comes to mind as do gold and silver.

Thanks for considering!

  1. this is such a beautiful post, Jennifer. Even though your photo subjects vary widely, I notice a pattern: pattern. They almost all have elements of repetition that create pattern. Also really enjoyed seeing photos of your little ones - love that ice cream face!

    1. Thank you Sharmon! I hadn't noticed the repetition of pattern in the shots before. So funny. Looked at more of my photos and it seems to be a habit. Enjoy!

  2. Love the underside of that mushroom...like sheets of paper...and somehow relates to Pam's piece. The girls are sweet...boy have they grown! Someday, I hope to meet them!

    1. The mushroom was great, wasn't it? A couple summers ago we had the biggest and most perfect mushrooms growing in new mulch. You know me and my camera...just couldn't resist.

    1. The branches are nice, aren't they? Can't remember where that shot is from... Glad you participated again this month. Enjoy!

  4. I'm back again. I posted some photos of brown on my blog. I have been so busy that the "search" had slipped my mind.

  6. What a beautiful selection of "browns" (funny how the color can be so drab on the one hand, yet there are so many just stunning versions of it). I also was struck by Pam's lines, the twigs & the awesome mushroom underside (as Julie said - like sheets of paper), all in a row. And Grace's chocolate-y face is so adorable!!
Thanks again for the inspiration to play along...and I will think about ROY 2015 and let you know if I have any ideas...

  7. Hey girl! Here is Lisa's thoughts on the subject of next year...some great ideas!

    (from Lisa)
First - just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your "browns," Julie (I have been amazed at how beautiful all of the "browns" I've seen on my ROY tour so far - great idea!). That first image of the bark is like wrinkles in the skin of some very, very wise/wizened old soul...
And I was just thinking - what about continuing after the usual seven with some variations on a single color, i.e. "multicolor," "stripes," or pairs of colors in other contexts (or maybe a pair one month, a trio another, and so on...or all primaries, all pastels, etc.)? I was thinking of doing "multicolor" for blogger's choice in December, but thought maybe it could be fun for all? Just an idea...

  8. Looking at my post made me wonder about featuring numbers, alphabet, shapes, patterns, etc after violet. The possibilities are endless.

  9. I love searching. Keeps my mind alert for new subjects unrelated to anything else I'm doing. I posted about brown but forgot to comment here till now... :)
