My mornings in Newburgh began with a stroll
to and along the River Tay, usually near high tide.
Thursday morning
seemed the fitting time
to give this book of Khadi paper
a dip in the river
before adding a few rusty bits.
No visit was complete without photographing the red boat.
As I turned to begin the uphill stroll to Big Cat Textiles,
something caught my eye.
Mud.
Dried,
cracked,
shrunken,
misshapen.
Reminiscent of eggshells
or puzzle pieces.
And I found myself whispering
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King's horses and the King's men,
couldn't put Humpty together again.
This little one watched on,
bravely, attentively,
as I walked up the hill
to the Newburgh War Memorial
just across the street from Big Cat Textiles.
Sigh. Double sigh. Triple sigh. Maybe next time...

ReplyDeleteGlad you have you along on the journey Wyn! It was an amazing time. I kept looking around on my strolls or in the studio and wanting to pinch myself to assure that I was awake and not just dreaming.
