My Saturday

I visited the Katonah Museum of Art yesterday to see Beyond the Bed, The American Quilt Evolution. Sadly, photos, even non-flash, were not allowed and the website shows only a few so it isn't possible to share the 2 that held my interest.

Yes. I am turning into quite the fiber art snob, aren't I? While strolling from quilt to quilt, I kept thinking that the quilts I see at art shows, such as the Smithsonian Craft Show or the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, are leagues better/more interesting than those on exhibit.

Before leaving, I stood in the middle of the room and had a vision of Jan Myers-Newbury's exquisite shibori dyed quilts that Pam and I saw at the James Gallery in Pittsburgh thanks to a suggestion from Christine.

A few of Jan's quilts were hanging in the main gallery with the body of work being housed in the annex.

Don't let the name fool you - the annex is a jewel of a gallery space and is perfect for a one person show.
