Searching for Roy G Biv - Black and white - updated

I'm a bit under the weather today - caught a cold after caring for my little urchins the past week while they had strep - and have opted to cull back through the blog and repost a few oldies, but goodies in black and white.  My apologies for the repeats!

If you have a second, venture on over to see Julie'sFiona's, Ersi's, Lisa's, Susan's and Liz's black and white. Enjoy.

Anca has a new post that contains a bit of wonderful news at the end as well as black and white.

Noela has been working on UFO's this month and her latest now FO fits right in with this month's search.

  1. The repeats are greatly appreciated, Jennifer! Let's give Beauty room to repeat itself. Sorry you're not feeling very well, I hope you'll be 'on your rust - get set - go!' soon :)

    1. Thank you Ersi for the well wishes as well as the chuckle from "on your rust - get set - go?" I'm feeling better so far this morning. Hopefully that feeling will last. Enjoy!

  2. Well, they may be repeats to you but most are new to me! Hope you feel better soon and get back to rusting (I was coveting the rusted thread...ah well!). We will have to figure out next month's "color".

    1. It was fun to go back through the blog photos and become reacquainted with them. Every now and then I even found myself oohing and aahing over a photo...that I'd forgotten about!

Next month...hmmm...black? Or shall we begin again?

  3. Sorry to hear you have succumbed a bit and hope that it doesn't linger. I thoroughly enjoyed the repeats, none of which felt repeated. The things I loved most were all yours - the bleaching of cotton, the story tile, the mono printing. Take care F

    1. Funny...your favorites were actually my favorites as well...especially the layer from the story tiles which were later painted and mono printed over to add more color. The mono printing was at Pam's...and there are yards and yards of it packed away in the studio just waiting for one day...

  4. I really enjoyed seeing these too! The story tiles layer looks especially enticing, and the antique receipt book...and the cracks...and the shadows of sheets/fabric(?)... It's good to have an 'excuse' to look back over one's blog/through past photos every once in a while, but I hope you feel a lot better by tomorrow. (Time for more tea?)

    1. Thank you Lisa! The shadows are the shadows of the red and white quilt exhibition from a couple years ago at the Park Avenue Armory entitled Infinite Variety. There's a link in my sidebar to my Flickr page if you'd like to see my photos of it.

It was quite an amazing and overwhelming exhibition. Sponsored by the owner's husband to celebrate her 80th birthday. First time she'd ever seen all of her quilts hung at one time.

      Now...time for more tea...

  5. Hi J - sorry to hear you are a bit under the weather - the dangers of urchins!!! Showing a few oldies is good when they are goodies. Go well, be well and create well. B

    1. The little urchins, for once, are not the cause of my ills. My pesky sinuses are. Yet another infection - no doubt caused by the plethora of trees surrounding the house. I know...the leaves and pollen are absent right now, but I'm still going to blame it on them.

Glad you like the oldies. Hopefully, there will be brand new photos next month. Enjoy!

Regarding these photos - I am a huge fan of gun powder drawings and marks and I love your photo with the antique receipt book.

    1. Thank you for get better hugs Susan! It definitely helps to receive all that good energy...especially from your neck of the world. Quite powerful once it makes its way here.

The gunpowder exhibit in Lawrence was...breathtaking and inspiring. I'll post more photos another time. Need to find the artist's name too.

      Enjoy!

    1. Thank you Jill! While I've been collecting feathers for a while now, most have come from the birds that frequent our yard...when I remember to fill the bird feeder, that is.

    1. Welcome to my blog Chariton! May I ask how you found it? I'm always curious to know the path one takes to arrive here.

The search for Roy G Biv began nearly a year ago when a friend mentioned Roy G Biv in a post. Never having heard of Roy and not being able to figure out his significance, I emailed her a note and asked about him. Then googled him and felt quite stupid. Mentioned him to my husband and well...felt even more stupid. Julie, of Julie B Booth blog, and my husband had both learned the rainbow that way. I'd simply learned the colors...sans indigo and violet, with purple instead.

That began our monthly search. This black and white post was an extension of Roy. We covered white last month and will be beginning again with red in February. Care to join us the 3rd Thursday and post some reds to your blog?

Come back to visit anytime. Enjoy!
