Mother Nature had other plans. First a hurricane that nearly wiped out the east coast. That nasty bit was followed by 10" of snow the next week...
which, of course, my girls loved. That's Grace on the right, bending down in the purple coat. Snowball fight the morning after and just before boarding the bus to school.
Having daughters provides me with the perfect excuse to indulge in my love of purple.
From beads
to headbands,
to cupcake papers,
and holiday dresses...
even their comfy chairs which Meesha likes too.
I am not alone in my love of purple though. The most used paint in their tray?
Purple, of course.
Even the sunset agrees.
Julie has a delicious variety of violets while
Ersi's skies and fogs leave me breathless
and Fiona's Jacarandas have me dreaming of spring.

What about you?
Does purple make your heart sing?
Purple definitely has Lisa's heart singing.
Stroll on over to Arzigogolare to peruse her finds.

Your photos make my heart sing, what a cheerful variety of purples and violets! (Reduntant? Never mind...) I can tell purple inspires you by the great framing of your subjects. I wish I could eat those cupcake papers! And sunsets are a must, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteSunsets are, indeed, a must. Half the year, this view is hidden by the leaves of all those trees. While spring and summer are my favorite months, Connecticut, with it's plethora of trees, has me liking fall and winter more and more...if only to be able to view the sunsets out the back door.
DeleteHere's to heart singing everywhere!
Very sweet! Not having a girl, I never quite got into all that purple (and pink)...though ironically one of Aaron's school colors is purple! I love how we got a little tour of the life a mother with young girls.
ReplyDeleteOh! The things you missed by having a boy...pinks, purples, fairies, Barbie movies [gag!], crushes on boys [yes, even at the ripe old age of 5], frilly dresses, skirts, hair bows, etc.
DeleteNotice that all the purple was the girls'. I've yet to photograph mine. Ha!
What pretty, shiny, happy purples, Jennifer! All of your shots made me smile. And it's been so much fun pursuing these color challenges - except for indigo (!), it seems we could spend a whole year on each color. I just posted my 'violets', and already I'm wishing I could have continued the search.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are all safe and well, and that Mother Nature bestows you with plenty of bright days, pretty sunsets and starry nights...
I loved all of these smile-inducing violets J - such fun! It is one of my favourite colours as well - phone cover, wallet, pens are all purple. Maybe we are the purple people?
ReplyDeleteWe are, most definitely, the purple people. Pens, purses, t-shirts, backpack, winter coat and scarves...purple. Just thought it was more fun to show the little girl stuff rather than the big girl stuff. Another day maybe...
DeleteJ-great shot of the girls through the frame of the post. Purple rules OK! Go well. B
ReplyDeletePurple does rule...as far as I'm concerned. It is a close second to pink though...not my choice, but that of the little urchins. Being little girls who dream of becoming princesses or faeries, well, pink is huge.
DeleteGlad you like the artsy shot. Enjoy!
fun photos! I love purple, it makes my hazel eyes look green.
ReplyDeleteSo funny! My eyes are hazel too.
DeleteP.S. my sister use to have a cat that looked like yours...it live to almost 20 years old.
ReplyDelete20 years? Wow! Meesha is 12 so she's got a few more years to torment the girls. They want desperately to pet her and she wants nothing to do with them. One day...maybe.
Deletei never understood the purple thing when my daughter was young, is it contagious? then it goes away and then it returns with a glorious name, violet!
ReplyDeleteVelma, you've asked a question that I cannot answer because purple, in all its variations, has always been one of my favorite colors. And the names for it are delightful - violet, amethyst, aubergine, lilac (hmmm...just thinking of lilacs seems to fill the studio with their intoxicating aroma), lavender...
