The gift of tea...

 ...bags, that is.

These beauties arrived last week. A gift from Pam. The note included stated that she thought they were needed here sooner rather than later. [She's coming to visit at the end of October. Woohoo!]

I did a little dance, sent a whispered thank you floating on the breeze in Pam's direction, oohed and aahed over the lovely rusting and carried them to the studio to photograph. Pam's creative energy must have been lingering on the bags for soon an idea had me getting the sewing machine out.

 With 3 tea bags layered

for body and depth of color,

I happily stitched lines across the rusty circles.

Once 4 sets had been stitched and photographed,

 I set about adding them

  to the 4 collages

already in progress.

3 are now complete. The 4th is being stubborn and needs a bit of considering.

    1. It was definitely a case of the tea bags arriving at the right time. I think they fit perfectly into the collages that were in progress. Glad you like the photos.

    1. I know. And Pam knows too. The rusty bit that resulted in the lovely rusted circle was one of her dads. It's about 3 or so inches in diameter. I must admit to having been very tempted to pack it in my bags when I was there in June. I resisted the temptation though and am very happy about it.

    1. Glad you like the collages. I'm still finding my way with them. The end shot of the tea bag stacks are my favorites of this bunch. The uneven edges and coloring from the tea are make for a good photo, don't you think?

    1. Thank you Seth! Nice to see you wandered back over for a look. Working with collage is very new to me and I have to admit to enjoying it. Don't know what I'll do if my stash of tea bags runs out though...

    1. It's funny that Pam felt the tea bags were needed before her trip in October. They arrived at just the right time though. I was a bit stumped as to what to add to the collages, but that changed in an instant.

  8. I think its official - there's a severe case of rusty teabag envy occurring in the southern hemisphere! Like Susan I am loving where the exploration is taking you - such a delight to be so energised and just following the muse (even if at time she whispers too quietly and you end up with stubborn pieces;they will move on for sure!)

    1. What a laugh I got from "rusty teabag envy"!! That's just too good. And all thanks to Pam for rusting the tea bags first. It's that wonderful big old washer that was her dad's.

The muse finally whispered about the 4th of the set so they are all complete now...save being named, that is. Any suggestions?

    1. Thank you Robyn! Yes, that first one on Tumblr was truly an experiment, a what-happens-if... Funnily enough, I entered it in a local jury exhibit and it was excepted. The collaging bug has bitten and I hooked at the moment so stay tuned for more.
