I like the text with the rust. going to look nice in book form! carry on!
Thanks Lyle! This is so very new for me and is equally exciting and terrifying.
Great idea to add text to your tea-stained pages! I wonder about the very white pages of the sketchbook. Do you need to do something to them? Maybe a faint blush of tea? Or crumple them? But then you would have to take the book apart. Just some thoughts. Still hoping for an email.Joanne in Canada
A faint blush of tea on the pages...what a lovely idea. The flip side of each text page has tea and rust marks so I'm not sure what a wash of tea would do to those. Might be fun to find though. Maybe next time. An email soon! I promise.
Your off to a great start. All the pages look so interesting. I just signed up for the project. I did 2011,2012 and the Limited Edition but wasn't feeling like doing 2013. For whatever reason I signed up last Saturday, got the sketchbook, digital scan and Tshirt! I'm "all in" now!
Isn't the Sketchbook Project fun? I signed up in for 2011 to challenge myself a bit and had a blast mono printing circles. Signed up for 2012, but never got that one started. This year though, it just seemed right...especially to work with tea and rust and a bit of a story. My theme is Memoire. What is yours? Good luck!
Loving it! Curious as to how you printed on the teabags...is that the part about Pam and the freezer paper? Did you iron them to freezer paper and run them through your printer? Can't wait to see the book when it's finished.
Thanks Julie! Yes...that is the part about Pam and the freezer paper. I cut a piece of freezer paper to 8 1/2 x 11 so it would fit in my printer, lightly ironed the tea bags on and ran it through the printer. I'm loving the layering of text from...well...the layers. Think I'll try it with rusted organza too. Maybe even a bit of cotton. I'll let you know how it goes.
I love page 1 and all the rest, even those I haven't seen yet! A jewel of a sketchbook!
I got a nice laugh from you saying that you like page 1 and all the rest...especially that you like those you haven't seen yet. No pressure there. Ha! Thank you Ersi!
I love its gorgeous layers and textures...beautiful!x
Thank you Sue! The tea bags are layering wonderfully, aren't they? Most have 3 layers and I'm curious if 4 would show. Maybe today...
Like Ersi, I love page 1 and all those that are not yet made. I can see them in my mind's eye .... though you often surprise me with fabulous new ways of incorporating your rust and ideas that work alongside. I joined the Sketch Book Project, Narrative, and received my book in the mail two days ago. Have absolutely no idea what I am going to do with it but do know it won't start happening till November as other things have to happen first. This will give me time to think and plan. I find your book inspirational Jennifer.
Oh! You and Ersi...I so hope the finished book lives up to your visions. Needless to say, I can't to see how you address Narrative as your sketchbook theme. Did you choose it or did you let the Fates send it your way? My randomly selected theme for 2011 was "Make Mine a Double". How's that for someone with twins at home? I laughed til I cried when I saw the theme the computer/fates/powersthatbe had selected for me. It's an honor that you find my book inspirational. Thank you very, very much.
I like these very much. Text AND rust at the same time, mmmm mmm! I really need to get on board with the sketchbook project too...
It's gets better Suzie...text and rust AND TEA! Mostly jasmine green tea, but a bit of Lipton with fresh mint every few pages. The Sketchbook Project is fun. It challenges me and that is appealing right now.
Hi j - so many things dear to my heart here - books, paper, teabags, rust text...I'm in interweb heaven! Following on from Joanne - maybe you could dunk the whole book in tea for a bit and see what that does to the pages? The layering is working beautifully...teabags just keep on giving don't they?
What a delight your comments always are. Interweb heaven, indeed! So funny. So...you think a tea bath is needed too? Hmmm...let me think about it a bit more. It would unify the pages colorwise, but I'm skeptical about what would happen to the tea/rust marks on the reverse side of the text pages. Need to experiment on something else first. Stay tuned.
what do i think?I amstillswoooooning....♥
It's always a pleasure to read your comments. Thank you!
