Sketchbook Project 2013

Art House Co-op sponsors some wonderfully imaginative projects. The best known is probably The Sketchbook Project. I participated in the 2011 version and even signed up for 2012. Sadly, that sketchbook is languishing away somewhere in the studio. I really should unearth it one of these days, don't you think?

Last week, while putting the finishing touches on my book of tea, the proverbial light bulb came on over my head. An idea for the 2013 Sketchbook Project had flashed into being. Listening to my muse, I quickly signed up.

When I opened the mailbox yesterday, there it was.
  Memoir is my chosen theme.

My Morning Tea will be the title.

Thank you to all who have left a comment about my book of tea! I'm honored beyond words that you would want to own it.

*If you just read those two lines and have no idea what I'm talking about, wander over to yesterday's offering celebrating my 300th blog post.

    1. Thank you! I'm very pleased with the first spread. Wasn't sure what would happen given how thin the paper is, but it turned out great.

  3. It sounds like Art House Coop need more people to sign up, they have made me feel guilty! Love your choice of content for yours.

    1. The 2011 Project had over 10,000 sketchbooks returned. I was lucky enough to see them while in Washington, DC one weekend. It was so much fun to checkout various sketchbooks and peruse them. Not sure what the count was for 2012. Art House is in Brooklyn [think New York City] so I really should just take a day and go visit.

So...have you signed up for your sketchbook yet?

  4. It seems like a great project to join in - I might not make it in time this time; but maybe another time. I'm sure your book will be brilliant - the perfect memoir.

    1. It is a fun project. The first time around I did it to challenge myself...get out of my comfort zone a bit. Didn't sketch. Monoprinted instead. Last year's theme was Along the Line. I chose it, but then just never could get started. This time around, it just seemed natural. There's still plenty of time to sign up...

    1. Oh! I wish I'd known too! Then again, if I ever take that day to venture into Brooklyn to visit Art House, I'll be sure to check out your sketchbook. What a thrill that will be!

  7. This book looks so cool! Don't you love the Sketchbook Project? I was in the 2011, and my 2012 is languishing, too. I'm seriously considering the 2013. it's due in January, so I'm not sure I'll have time...

    Have fun!

    1. So funny that your 2012 sketchbook is languishing as well. What was about that year?
