Details

My friend, Julie Booth, put in a request for detail shots of Rust Boro #1.
Not quite sure these are the kind she had in mind...

  1. Thanks! They are what I wanted to see... And ironically my horoscope fr the Post (which is yours as well)says: "You notice everything now. You may obsess about minor elements that no one except you cares about, but that's what makes your work great. Excellence is in the details."
And so it is...congrats on getting the first piece complete!

  2. I love the detail on the top one; and the quiet stitching into grey in the second - thanks for the zoomed in look!

    1. Thanks Fiona! The quiet stitching on the grey was done at Pam's house last December as we both enjoyed a full day in her studio. After how hectic life had been around here, it was blissful to have such a day and I think the stitching shows it somehow...if that is at all possible.

  3. Yes, Boro has become a wonderful art form... began by poor Japanese people for their survival and now treasured. Your rusty boro is wonderful

    1. I nearly bought a late 1800's-early 1900's boro jacket that fit me perfectly when I was in Philadelphia a few weeks ago. It was so lovely and equally tempting. Another time, perhaps.

My mom and grandmother used to make quilts out of fabric remnants. It was always fun to see a bit of my dress or blouse show up in a quilt. It's not the same as boro, but the history is there as well.

Thank you for the compliment and for visiting the blog. Stop by anytime. Enjoy! Jennifer
