The mysterious whites

I've been teasing you a bit lately,

 posting black and white abstracts

 along side stitching and strings

and rusty circles.

Several of you guessed at what was making the abstracts.
Lisa of Arzigogolare was the closest...
only the exact brand of paper was elusive.

Still...has anyone truly guessed what was afoot in the studio?

 Tis this season, afterall.

Ah...you've got it now!

Finally found a use for those papers I eco dyed and rusted earlier in the year.

The cards are finally on their way to family and friends, as they should have been a week or so ago.

I must admit that it was difficult to send them out...those shadows from the afternoon sun were just so much fun to watch and photograph. And I took tons of photos! There's an idea for a series floating around my mind...it whispers...it teases...it flits out of view. Perhaps it's waiting for the new year...

  1. I have to say that it all makes sense now! I love my card! I also love these abstract shots. The circles side by side are wonderful.

    1. Glad you like the card! Next year, I'm tempted to decorate our tree with ornaments like on this year's cards. If I start now, there could be quite a collection by then. Hmmm...must give that some serious thought...

    1. Aren't the ornaments fun? I was drawing a blank as to what to do for this year's cards and decided to see what treasures the studio held that had been forgotten. Unearthed the papers from back in the spring and summer and the rest is history.

      Merry Christmas!

  3. Hi Jennifer,
What a terrific idea for a Christmas card! And how lucky the recipients are to receive one of these cards.
I hope that you are well. Your posts have been fewer lately and I have really been missing them. Hope that they will increase in frequency in 2013.
My work with factory windows is going well. I couldn't have proceeded with using your idea of tea-rusted fabric. Thank you so much.
Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2013!

    1. Thank you Joanne, for the kind words about the cards and for missing my posts. I miss them too and am hoping that once the holidays are over all will return to normal.

I'm glad your factory windows are progressing well. The photos you sent were fascinating! Such an intriguing idea to explore and wonderfully executed. I'm happy that tea rusted fabric plays well with the concept.

      Merry Christmas!

    1. Ha! Sure blame it on me. Actually, I was going to blame my distractedness on you and your wonderful art posts. Keep going back to them. They've provided calm and peace in what has been a trying few weeks. So...yes, I'll happily take the blame.

      Merry Christmas!

It was a treat to see the lovely closeups (especially after all that teasing!), and I can only imagine what fun they were to photograph.
    Merry Merry!!

    1. I was actually a bit afraid to post the ornaments after the teasing I'd done. Thought that was more interesting than the final product, but it seems I thought wrong. Thank you!

      Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you Fiona! I wanted to keep the cards simple and not drive myself batty making them. In the end, I looked around the studio for what was available. The eco dyed and rusted papers called out. It was their time. And they worked very well.

That said, I can't help but wonder what all my non-artsy family and friend will think of them. Probably wonder what the devil I put on the front! Ha!

Merry Christmas to you and Barry!
