Searching for Roy G Biv 4 - Green

(note to self: next time there are plans to be out of the country on a Roy G Biv day, create the post and schedule it for publishing...just in case the internet connection is non-existent)

That was my original plan - create April's Roy post and schedule publishing on the 16th so it wouldn't need to be done over spring break. The photos were edited according to plan, but...well...you know how it goes. Best laid plans and all that.

Look to the far left where Negril is. That's where we were over spring break. Seems the internet connection at Beaches Negril runs on island time. Searching for Roy G Biv II - Green update 1

What better place to search for green than in Washington, DC in the spring? In case you've yet to visit DC, be sure to wander the neighborhoods around the DuPont Circle area. There are all sorts of little jewels just waiting to be discovered. Enjoy!

I know...where's the green, right? Well, the woman in this photo just happens to be my Roy G Biv inspiration/partner Julie looking the ethereal weavings of Katie Glusica at the Smithsonian Craft Show. Now, if only I'd thought to get someone to take a photo Julie, Pam and I together... Next time.

Searching for Roy G Biv - They've got green

Boston definitely has green.

That's where we've been for the past few days. Exploring Boston, feeding the ducks, riding in the swan boats, going to the aquarium and the most magnificent children's museum I've ever seen. Oh! To be 5 again and be able to play in that place.

Do you know who else has green? Julie has Maine greens. Fiona favored us with a bit of green to ponder. Lisa posted the most wondrous greens...my favorites are the patinas. But it was Ersi who stole the show!

September's search for Roy will have us all in a blue mood...or in the mood for the blues...or the Moody Blues...or...

What sort of blues will you have, I wonder?

Searching for Roy G Biv - Green

My search for green started

during our monsoon season.

It led me to see the beauty at the heart of bok choy

and to be fascinated by the sunlight

shining through translucent tiles.

 London's colorful office building caught my eye

as did the simple architecture with moss growing.

Back home, this little guy won my attention at the toy store.

We've played a lot Sorry lately...the girls have been trouncing me,

I'm sorry to admit. 

 Last Saturday's jaunt to NYC had me searching for green

and finding it on buildings,

 at Purl Soho

and ended over desert with Deb.

Searching for Roy G Biv - green

My friend Julie of the Julie B Booth blog, wrote a post the other day entitled Searching for Roy G Biv which showed the most beautiful yellow hibiscus and included the words Yellow. 'Nuf said.

I looked from the hibiscus photo to the blog title to Julie's short text a couple of times, wondering all the while what the connection was. Was Roy G Biv a botanist? Was he an author as well? Or an artist, perhaps, of botanical illustrations. Just what did Roy G Biv have to do with a yellow hibiscus?

So...oh! the laughter really can be heard via cyberspace, you know...I did a quick Google search on Mr Biv.
[I know that sound! Someone just fell off their chair from laughing so hard!] And felt like a blooming idiot. [pun totally intended] Never had I heard the colors of the rainbow referred to as Roy G Biv. Or if I have, it was long ago forgotten.

The funny thing...admittedly not near as funny as my not knowing what Roy G Biv is...is that the day Julie posted yellow was the same day I had posted Red. A challenge was issued [from me to her] to see who could post orange, which Julie won with photos from SCAD, better known as Savannah College of Art and Design.

With red, orange and yellow covered, green is next and it's my turn. Here are a few offerings from around the house.
